Trump Announces ICE Director Nomination
Former President Donald Trump announced on Saturday his intention to nominate Lance Schroyer as the next director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The announcement was made via social media, where Trump highlighted Schroyer's extensive career in law enforcement.
Trump emphasized Schroyer's more than 29 years of law enforcement experience in Oklahoma. The former president also underscored his strong electoral performance in the state, stating he carried all 77 counties in the 2016, 2020, and 2024 contests.
Describing Schroyer as a "PATRIOT" and a former Oklahoma State Trooper and United States Marine, Trump praised his nominee's "real operational experience" and "proven leader" qualities. According to Trump, Schroyer possesses "DECADES of experience locking up the worst of the worst" and has been instrumental in spearheading 287g law enforcement partnerships with ICE.
Trump asserted that Schroyer has "firsthand experience getting Illegal Aliens OFF our streets" and shares a deep respect for ICE personnel, mirroring Trump's own sentiments and those of Secretary of Homeland Security Markwayne Mullin.
Vision for ICE and Schroyer's Role
Lance has what it takes to DETAIN AND DEPORT Illegal Alien Criminals, including murders, rapists, and drug traffickers at a rate never seen before! Remember, our Administration has the HIGHEST Daily Arrest Rate by ICE and CBP than ANY other President, by far. It’s not even close! The Senate must CONFIRM Lance, IMMEDIATELY — Do not delay. Together, we will MAKE AMERICA SAFE AGAIN.
If confirmed, Schroyer would succeed Acting Director David Venturella.
U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Markwayne Mullin also voiced his approval of Trump's selection, calling it a "great pick" on social media. Mullin conveyed his belief that Schroyer’s "strong leadership and firsthand experience will empower the men and women of ICE to deport criminal illegal aliens, secure the homeland, and protect the American people."
