Kellan Lutz Discusses Family's Move from California to Tennessee Amid Pandemic Shifts

Actor Kellan Lutz recently revealed his family's decision to relocate from California to Tennessee three years ago, following the onset of the global pandemic. During an appearance on Michael Rosenbaum's "Inside of You" podcast, Lutz expressed his enduring affection for California, stating, "I love California, I really do." He clarified that the significant shift to Tennessee coincided with the arrival of their second child.

The performer, known for his role in the "Twilight" saga, indicated their departure from Orange County. His wife, Brittany Lutz, reportedly harbors aspirations of eventually returning to the area or maintaining a "bi-ish coastal" lifestyle.

Reasons for the Relocation

Brittany Lutz's roots are in Orange County, where she was born and raised. Her family, whom Lutz described as "awesome," also played a role in the move. Lutz observed a broader trend post-pandemic, noting that "a lot of people flew, like fled California," with many facing job losses and seeking a more tranquil environment.

When Brittany's family decided to leave California, the Lutz family chose to follow them to Tennessee. Lutz explained this decision was primarily driven by the need for a robust support system for his wife, particularly when his work requires him to be on location, leaving her at home with their children.

He recounted a specific incident where one of their children became ill, leading Brittany to feel "really out of control as far as not being able to bring both kids there or just kind of helpless." This experience prompted her to ask, "'Can we move?'" to which Lutz readily agreed, responding, "'Yeah, of course.'" Lutz further noted that several fathers in his social circle had shared similar experiences, suggesting that new mothers frequently desire to reside closer to their own mothers for assistance with childcare.

Reflecting on the decision, Lutz stated, "Then when they decided to move, I was like, 'OK, well, we're going to do it. We're going to give it a couple years and we have, and it's great.'" He highlighted numerous positive aspects of their new home state, particularly Franklin, Tennessee, where they reside.

Life in Tennessee and Future Outlook

While the family has now been in Tennessee for three years, Lutz admitted he is uncertain about the duration of their stay. He detailed some of the benefits they've discovered: "We got some land, got great Bible studies that we're a part of, great churches, great community." Surprisingly, he also noted a vibrant entertainment presence, remarking, "There's a lot of actors. I've gone to probably more movie premieres in Franklin, Tennessee, than I have in L.A., you know, the last couple years since I lived there."

Despite the many positives, Lutz acknowledged that the transition has come with its share of adjustments. Among these adaptations, he mentioned, "we aren't seasons people." The presence of tornadoes is a particular concern, causing his wife to go "on red alert, especially when you have kids." Additionally, the couple misses the quality of "good sushi and good Mexican food" they were accustomed to in California.
