Trump Floats White House Football Watch Party with Obama, Biden, and Bush

Former President Donald Trump recently put forward a novel idea: hosting a gathering of past U.S. presidents at the White House to collectively watch a football game. The suggestion emerged during an appearance on the "Storytime with the Second Lady" podcast.

The concept arose as Trump reviewed a book page depicting a president hosting a Super Bowl viewing event at the executive mansion. He shared his thought with Second Lady Usha Vance, stating it sparked an idea.

"Maybe I should invite Barack Hussein Obama, Joe Biden, with the Bushes — or Bush. Maybe I should invite some of those people to watch a football game together," he mused. "Wouldn't that be a nice story? The press would go wild."

Second Lady Vance responded enthusiastically, saying, "A president reunion? That would be fun!"

The podcast, hosted by Usha Vance, wife of Vice President JD Vance, features guests who narrate children's books for a YouTube audience. The program has welcomed a diverse range of individuals, including race car driver Danica Patrick, astronauts from the Artemis II mission, and most recently, Trump himself.

During his segment, Trump narrated "Presidents Play!", a publication from the White House Historical Association, which explores the recreational pursuits of various U.S. presidents throughout history.

Reflections on Past Presidents

Rather than strictly adhering to the book's text, Trump offered his own humorous observations as he turned pages, commenting on figures like William Howard Taft as he was shown tossing a baseball.

"He was a large man, very large. And he loved baseball. He'd go to baseball games, loved the hot dogs at the baseball games," Trump recounted. "He was our heaviest president, and I have to be careful 'cause I don't want to supersede his record. And a thing like that would be possible if I allowed it to happen."

He then encouraged viewers to maintain good physical fitness.

On another page, Trump highlighted former President Bill Clinton jogging on a track specifically constructed for him during his time in the White House.

"That's nice. I didn't even know that until recently, but he had a track built at the White House," Trump remarked. "I don't think I'll ever do that. I don't see myself doing that. I don't know. But he actually was a nice guy. I like Bill Clinton a lot. I still do."

The living former presidents, including Republican George W. Bush, along with Clinton and Biden, recently convened for the grand opening of the Barack Obama Presidential Center. Trump, who has frequently exchanged criticisms with Obama, was notably not among the invited guests at that event.
