Princess Cruises is implementing more stringent booking policies, which include increased deposit requirements and expedited final payment deadlines. These adjustments have generated diverse reactions among travelers.
The company stated that for new reservations made for voyages scheduled from 2027 onward, a 120-day final payment window will be introduced, alongside a revised cancellation fee structure. According to the cruise line, these modifications aim to “bring greater consistency to the booking process and reflect broader industry practices, while also helping ensure that guests have fair access to the staterooms and sailings they want to experience.”
These updated rules will become effective on September 2 for new bookings covering sailings that depart on or after January 1, 2027. Passengers were informed of these upcoming policy shifts via email, as reported by industry publication Cruise Critic.
Princess Cruises is also increasing its standard deposit amounts. For cruises lasting seven days, guests reserving inside, oceanview, balcony, and mini-suite staterooms will now be required to pay $300 per person, an increase from the previous $250. Deposits for suite accommodations will rise from $500 to $600 per person, according to details from a travel review website.
The cruise line further noted that any reservations for which final payment is not received by the stipulated deadline will be automatically canceled. However, guests will continue to receive payment reminders prior to their due date.

The changes in booking policy have ignited discussion among cruise enthusiasts across social media platforms. Some travelers indicated that the accelerated payment deadlines would not impact their vacation planning, as they typically settle their cruise balances as soon as possible.
