Sean 'Diddy' Combs' Prison Release Date Delayed Again, Now Set for Early 2028

Sean "Diddy" Combs' federal prison release date has been adjusted once more, with the Federal Bureau of Prisons now indicating an expected release on February 20, 2028. This new date is nearly a month after his previous schedule.

The projected release date for the 56-year-old artist has shifted multiple times since he began serving his sentence.

Revised Release Schedule Following Reported Incident

Recent reports suggest that the acclaimed rap executive was placed in solitary confinement last month following a reported physical altercation with another inmate. The incident reportedly took place at FCI Fort Dix, where an inmate allegedly made a remark to Combs that initiated the confrontation.

Following the reported incident, Combs was reportedly moved to solitary confinement. It remains unclear whether this reported fight directly contributed to the delay in his release date.

Overview of Legal Proceedings and Conviction

Combs was arrested in September 2024 on federal sex trafficking charges. This arrest came after several months marked by sexual misconduct allegations, numerous lawsuits, ongoing investigations, and the public release of surveillance footage. The video appeared to show the rapper physically assaulting his then-girlfriend, Cassie, in a hotel hallway in Los Angeles.

In July 2025, a jury found Combs guilty on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. He was subsequently sentenced in October to more than four years behind bars, specifically 50 months. Prosecutors had initially recommended a sentence of 135 months, which is just over 11 years.

Initially, Combs faced a potential life sentence if convicted on more severe charges, including racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking by force, coercion, and transportation to engage in prostitution. However, he was acquitted of the most serious allegations, including racketeering and sex trafficking.

In addition to his 50-month prison term, Combs was ordered to complete five years of supervised release and pay a fine of $500,000.
