A theme park visitor in Spain was airlifted for medical treatment on Saturday after an incident on a Batman-themed roller coaster resulted in the individual sustaining fractures to both legs, according to reports from the region.
The event took place on the "Batman Gotham City Escape" attraction at Parque Warner Madrid. The 49-year-old rider reportedly suffered an open fracture in his left leg and a closed fracture in his right leg, as confirmed by emergency service officials.
The multi-launch roller coaster, which debuted in 2023, was Spain’s first of its kind. It features three high-speed launches that propel passengers upwards and four inversions, during which riders are briefly suspended upside down.
Park management stated that the ride was immediately halted following the incident, and emergency protocols were activated without delay. "The affected person was attended to immediately by emergency medical services," Parque Warner officials noted.
Witness Accounts and Ongoing Investigation
First responders subsequently transported the injured visitor by air to a nearby medical facility. The scene also prompted concern among other parkgoers, with one visitor, Juan José Molina, describing a sense of disarray. He recounted, "There were people crying and having anxiety attacks."
Parque Warner has announced that the roller coaster will remain closed while the incident undergoes a thorough review in collaboration with relevant authorities.
